The World Agroforestry Centre is an international institute based in Nairobi, Kenya, that was established in 1978. The Centre focuses on sustainable management, protection, and regulation of tropical rainforests and natural reserves.

Overview

  • The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) are working towards a more fair world where trees across all landscapes contribute to the environment and well-being.
  • The Communications, Outreach, and Engagement (COE) unit is backing CIFOR-ICRAF's global communications ambitions. It is a leading science communications program with a diverse team of over 50 staff members in 30 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, consistently achieving significant growth in web, social media, and publishing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies and plans for projects or countries, including messaging, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Create various content types like publications, web content, social media posts, and videos.
  • Manage events from planning to reporting on outcomes.
  • Assist in coordinating media interactions.
  • Produce analytical reports on communication performance.
  • Undertake other communication activities as needed.

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Requires a Master's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one of the following languages: Bahasa Indonesian, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications planning and monitoring.
  • Experience in writing, editing, and digital media.
  • Strong ability to manage communication activities and work under pressure.
  • Understanding of various communication formats and digital media trends.
  • Capability to coordinate content across teams and build strong working relationships globally.
  • Background in environment, climate, forestry, or related sciences is beneficial.
