The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is a CGIAR Consortium Research Centre that aims at rural transformation throughout the tropics as smallholder households increase their use of trees in agricultural landscapes to improve their food security, nutrition security, income, health, shelter, social cohesion, energy resources and environmental sustainability.

JOB SUMMARY

The position aims to enable effective implementation of integrated restoration livelihood and carbon projects in Kenya. The job holder will support in undertaking action research, setting up demonstration, managing rural resource centers; training lead farmers on agroforestry and land management related topics; and supporting monitoring and evaluation activities in the area of operation (County in Kenya).RequirementsDiploma/BSc in Agriculture, Forestry, or any Natural Resources Management related disciplineThree (3) years in similar positionAbility to use computerized data collection toolsBasic knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Word, PPTGood writing skillsExperience in agricultural research and development is an advantageDriving license (motorbike).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Extension Support:Provide technical trainings, field demonstrations/trials and other support to IPs and lead farmers on agroforestry and other land management practicesSet up and or manage rural resource centers for supply of quality seedlings, demonstrations and informationProvide technical trainings and other support to IPs and lead farmers on soil & water conservation and climate smart production practices and techniques.Research support:Facilitate and support action research and co-learning activities (with IPs, lead farmers and other stakeholders)Collect, analyse and summarize research data, and assist / prepare, manuals, guidelines, training and workshop reportsContribute to writing of technical reports, scientific articles and case studies.Monitoring, evaluation and learning:Support PMEL processes working, build the capacity of the implementing partners and lead farmers in tree trackingSupport implementation of baseline, uptake surveys and impact assessment data collection and complementary qualitative follow-up assessments.Programme management.Support production of project implementation plans and progress reportsSupport organization of workshops and field visits.
