Senior Data Architect Job Description

Our company is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Architect to become part of our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:
  • Design data model components to support data transformation and results of analytic algorithms;
  • Integrate differing data models across the company into one enterprise-wide Unified Data Platform design;
  • Create database design and architecture documentation;
  • Foster a culture of standardization in data transformation and analytic logic;
  • Detect inconsistencies in data definitions for reconciliation;
  • Establish a corporate data library/metadata repository including optimal practices for the development of data transformation specifications;
  • Travel involvement required (approx. 20%);
  • Collaborate with software engineering and DBA teams to comprehend their database requirements for new products or features;
  • Engage in prototyping and proof of concept system development and benchmarking;
  • Define enterprise data architecture design patterns, principles, and best practices to enhance business solution delivery;
  • Create and execute backup and recovery strategies;
  • Organize and provide operational supervision in database maintenance with minimal customer impact;
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring compliance with best practices;
  • Identify and resolve production application issues;
  • Carry out database administration tasks, including automation, performance monitoring, system tuning, and SQL query optimization.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency with AWS services like S3, EMR, EC2, and Amazon RedShift highly desired;
  • Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies, and exposure to Scaled Agile Framework is a bonus;
  • Ability to collaborate with business, operations, and engineering stakeholders;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Modeler/Data Architect; strong expertise in data modeling and management principles;
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; adept at teamwork;
  • Capability to evaluate evolving technologies and apply them to meet business requirements;
  • Data modeling and information categorization expertise at an enterprise level;
  • Bachelor's degree in fields like computer science, computer information systems, or other data-related disciplines;
  • 5 years of experience with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking;
  • Business insight, and the skill to communicate effectively with executives, business stakeholders, and technical personnel alike;
  • Familiarity with various data access and analytics approaches (e.g., microservices and event-based architectures);
  • Experience with a data model focused on the financial industry preferred;
  • More than 3 years of experience in banking or financial institutions preferred;
  • Strong focus on customers and business.
