ABOUT THE COMPANY

On a significant note, the vision for an Open University in Kenya came to fruition on August 3, 2023, when the institution was awarded a Charter by the Honorable President of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto. The charter ceremony took place at Konza Metropolis, located in Machakos County. This event marked a crucial milestone in the educational landscape of Kenya and affirmed the commitment of the government to expand higher education opportunities beyond the conventional brick- and-mortar universities.

The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to pursue higher education without the constraints of physical presence and limited campus capacities.

JOB SUMMARY

Requirements for AppointmentFor appointment to this post, one MUST have:Master's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Marketing, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Communications studies, Media Studies, International Relations from an accredited and recognized institution;Bachelor's Degree in any of the following: Marketing, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Communications Studies, Media Studies, Corporate Communications from an accredited and recognized institution; ORBachelor's Degree in Social Sciences with a Postgraduate Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Marketing, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Communications studies or Media Studies from a recognized institution;At least twelve (12) years' relevant work experience with at least three (3) years as a Chief Corporate Communications and Marketing Officer grade 12 in a university or its equivalent. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;Certificate of membership to a professional body from a recognized institution;Certificate in computer application skills;Excellent oral and written communication skills; andShown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
