Duties
  • Coordinate public health, reproductive health, nutrition, and HIV activities within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) in collaboration with various partners.
  • Represent UNHCR in health coordination meetings and engage in relevant partnerships to meet the health needs of Persons of Concern (POC).
  • Support strategic planning for public health and advocate for refugees' access to essential health services.
Strategic planning and development
  • Contribute to the implementation of UNHCR's Strategic Plan for Public Health at the country level.
  • Advocate for inclusion of refugees in health policies and major donor programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop public health response plans associated with refugee movements.
Technical integrity and risk mitigation
  • Update standard practices on public health and support primary health care prioritization.
  • Monitor health care services provided to POC based on recognized standards and policies.
  • Collaborate with WASH programs and other sectors to maximize impact.
Collaboration
  • Support linkages between public health and other sectors throughout the program cycle.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of refugees in national health surveys and data disaggregation.
  • Monitor public health and nutrition programs to ensure evidence-based and cost-effective implementation.
Capacity Building
  • Strengthen capacity of UNHCR and partners in public health programming.
  • Identify and address capacity gaps and risks impacting health objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year relevant experience for P1/NOA with an undergraduate degree; or no experience with graduate/doctorate degree.
  • Field(s) of Education: Medicine, Medical Science, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
  • Essential Job Experience: Knowledge of public health, reproductive health, and nutrition; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Additional qualifications in Nutrition and WASH, understanding of linkages with public health and food security.
  • Ability to coordinate diverse activities for a common public health objective.
Functional Skills
  • Monitoring & Evaluation, Public Health Epidemiology, Reproductive Health, Health Data Collection/Analysis, UNHCR's Mandate/Policy.
Language Requirements
  • For International Professional and Field Service jobs: Knowledge of English and UN working language.
  • For National Professional jobs: Knowledge of English, UN working language, and local language.
  • For General Service jobs: Knowledge of English and/or UN working language.
