We're looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Climat
e Change Resilience Programme Specialist to join our team in East and Southern Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families affected by climate change.
About the Role
This role will be based in the East and Southern Africa Region and will work closely with regional teams to support programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as data and evidence generation. You will also play a key role in coordinating with partners, including governments, NGOs, and communities, to ensure that our climate resilience programmes are effective and sustainable.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in climate change, environmental science, engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. You will also have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Programme Planning and Implementation: Provide technical support to the development, implementation, and monitoring of programme work plans across two countries.
- Programme Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Actively monitor programme progress and exchange information with partners and stakeholders to assess progress, identify bottlenecks, and support timely decision making.
- Data and Evidence Generation: Support key studies on climate change impacts on children, environmental hazards, and disaster risk reduction strategies relevant to KOICA-supported programmes.
- Evaluation and Assessments: Collaborate with PM&E Advisers and Regional Advisors for overall coordination of priority research, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
- Technical Support: Provide technical and operational support to staff in climate, energy, and environment-related KOICA-supported programmes.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree in climate change, environmental science, engineering, disaster management, international development, international relations, government, public administration, public policy, social policy, or other relevant disciplines.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in areas related to sustainability, international development, disaster management, environmental issues, public policy, social policy, and children's health and wellbeing.
- Specific experience in policy/advocacy/programming, implementation, monitoring, review, and evaluation related to climate change, environment, or disaster risk reduction is required, preferably in a developing country context.
