Position Overview
:

Target General Service is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor for an on-site contract role on a construction project in Mogadishu, Somalia. The successful candidate will support cost management activities, ensure financial efficiency, and assist in delivering the project within budget. This is a renewable contract with working cycles of 6 months on-site followed by a 2-week leave, with full transportation and accommodation provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities
:

Assist in cost control, cost planning, and budget monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and assist in tender documentation.

Track project expenditures and compile regular cost reports for management review.

Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure accurate project costing.

Support valuation of work completed and contractor payments.

Maintain up-to-date cost records and contribute to financial forecasting.

Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management.

Proven experience in cost control, BOQ preparation, and cost reporting.

Strong understanding of construction costing principles and budget management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management software (MS Project – preferred).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a challenging on-site environment.

Prior experience in construction or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
