Position: Assistant Production Manager
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail oriented Assistant Production Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the Production Manager in coordinating and supervising daily operations on the production floor, ensuring that manufacturing targets are met efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for operations and people management to grow within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Production Manager in planning, managing and executing production operations. Coordinate and plan production priorities, workflow and schedule.
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the production floor including scheduling, staffing and workflow management.
Schedule routine inspection and maintenance of production equipment to prevent equipment break-downs and malfunctioning.
Identify and report operational and maintenance problems to prevent production delays.
Monitor production processes and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Develop or update standard operating procedures and best practices for production operations in liaison with the IMS department.
Coordinate with the imports/exports team to ensure the availability of raw materials and components for production.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Ensure initiatives towards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IMS are fully adhered to on the production floor.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback and address any issues or concerns within the production team.
Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues, improve product quality and optimize production processes.
Prepare regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as production output and efficiency.
Monitor production processes and equipment performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate with the EHS department to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Ensure that all equipment, materials and supplies are readily and continuously available to carry out production processes.
Address employee concerns and complaints in a professional manner. Assist in interviewing, hiring and training new employees.
Implement the good manufacturing practices (GMP) in the production shift to deliver quality made books in line with customer specifications.
Handle any internal industrial/employees relation issues in the factory in conjunction with line manager.
Implement agreed welfare programmes and attend planned meetings ensuring completion of agreed actions
Manage performance review, appraisals, and promotions for employees.
Act in the absence of the Production manager as per Company policies.
Participate in recruitment of seasonal employees as agreed with production manager.
Skills & Competencies
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field.
• 5-7 yrs in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven experience in production management role within the printing manufacturing industry with a strong understanding of the Printing processes.
• Solid knowledge of production planning, scheduling and inventory management principles
• Strong problem solving and decision making abilities with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills.
• Working knowledge on data analytics
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
