Risk and Compliance Manager

Job Title:     Riskand Compliance ManagerReports to:   Boardof Directors & Dotted Line to CEO & Principal OfficerLocation:      Nairobi, Kenya.JOB PURPOSE Our client, a reputable player inthe insurance industry, seeks to recruit a Risk and Compliance Manager to oversee the company's Enterprise RiskManagement (ERM) and compliance functions. The position exits to manage theenterprise risk management (ERM) functions of the company for proper design,implementation and monitoring of the ERM Framework in order to ensure a balancebetween risk and return. The incumbent will be required to partnerwith management in providing continual risk assessment, development ofcomprehensive policies, procedures, conduct compliance training, protocols,conduct internal reviews of processes in order to implement risk managementstrategies. The role holder will also oversee thecompliance programs of the Insurance and ensure that the compliance risk iseffectively managed. Key Responsibilities:Planning, designing and implementing an overall risk managementprocess for the organizationRisk assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well asidentifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the businessEstablishsystems, policies and procedures to identify, control, manage and measureenterprise -wide risks of the companyEnsurethat enterprise -wide risk management policies, controls and procedures, areeffectively implemented, disseminated and complied with      across the business.Improverisk management readiness and create an organizational culture that places highpriority on effective risk management and adherence to sound operating controlsat all levels through communication, training programs and risk -basedperformance measurementsDevelopInsurance wide Risk monitoring tools, risk register and rating of risks, Assistin institutionalization of self -assessments in line with IRA regulations andbest practice.Risk reporting in an appropriate way for different audiences, forexample, to the board of directors so they understand the most significantrisks, to business heads to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to theirparts of the business and to individuals to understand their accountability forindividual risksAdvise the Board of Directors, Senior Management andall staff of emerging compliance issues and consults and guides the insurancein the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.Oversee the monitoring of compliance to policies andprocedures and ensure corrective action is taken where there are deviations tominimize exposure.Overseethe monitoring of compliance to policies, rules and proceduresEnsurethe development of a culture where risk is managed effectively and consistentlyacross the businessOngoingmonitoring and review of the management of risk across the insurance businessoperations and ensure that the policy framework and its implementation remainrelevant and adds value to the insurance as a whole.Evaluatethe effectiveness and efficiency of the Risk management tools across theorganization and ensure corrective action is taken.Contactperson between the company and IRA in regard to all competence matters. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Commerce in Insurance or Business -relateddegreeAt least five (5) years' experience in the insurancesector with at least 2 years at a managerial levelA minimum of five (5) years' experience in risk oraudit responsibilities preferably in the financial services industry.Professional qualification in insurance or accountingplus relevant qualifications in risk managementMembership in a professional body.Training experience required:Risk Management
