Overview
The Application Database Administrator (ADBA) plays a critical role in ensuring that databases effectively support business applications. This role focuses on optimizing database performance, maintaining data integrity, and collaborating with relevant teams to align database functionality with application requirements.
Skills Required :Strong knowledge in Oracle DBA & Postgres DBA.
Experience Required Yrs
OCA or OCP certificate is a must
Past/ Present experience related to Cloud is desirable.
Shift - 24x7
Education :Any Bachelor degree is must.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting application-specific database issues.
- Install, Configure, upgrade and maintain database systems
- Manage database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery plans
- Database object reviews
- Tuning database performance for individual applications.
- Working with application developers on database design and implementation.
- Monitor database performance
- SQL tuning, query optimization, and troubleshoot PL/SQL issues
- Review app-related DB logs and trace files for errors or anomalies
- Monitor DB jobs, batch processes, and scheduled procedures (e.g., using DBMS_SCHEDULER)
- Validate schema integrity, check object growth, and perform clean-ups
- Monitor table/index growth, segment usage, temp space usage, etc.
- Capacity monitoring and reporting
- Refresh lower environments (UAT/OAT) from Production as needed.
- Support UAT, regression testing, and performance/load testing efforts
- Assist in rolling out new application versions that include schema/data changes.
- Maintain schema documentation, change logs, and configuration baselines
- Maintain and review audit logs to track database access and changes for compliance and security purposes.
- Participate in project planning and implementation phases that involve database changes or new application rollouts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- OCA or OCP certificate is a must
- Strong experience with database management systems specifically oracle and Postgres
- Proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages
- Familiarity with application development processes and methodologies
- Excellent analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- At least 4years of experience in oracle database support in a financial sector
