Role Description

Position: Quantity Surveyor

Reports To: Project Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Nairobi, Kenya (with site presence in the CBD & Industrial Area)

Employment Type: Full-time, Project-based

Job Summery

Under the overall guidance of the Contractor and in line with the policies and procedures of the Group, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-offs, preparation of payment certificates, and financial control of project works. The role ensures accurate valuation of executed works, efficient cost management, and timely reporting to support project delivery in accordance with contractual requirements and client expectations.

Detail Duties

  1. Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for civil and water engineering works based on site data and drawings.

  2. Prepare and verify interim and final payment certificates in line with contract provisions.

  3. Assist in preparing variations, change orders, and cost estimates for additional works.

  4. Maintain up-to-date records of executed works, measurement sheets, and cost reports.

  5. Support the preparation of project financial progress reports (weekly, monthly, and as required).

  6. Liaise with site engineers, foremen, and project managers to ensure accurate reporting of executed works.

  7. Prepare and review bills of quantities, material schedules, and cost breakdowns.

  8. Monitor budget utilization and advise on cost control measures.

  9. Participate in project meetings with consultants, the client, and subcontractors on contractual and financial matters.

  10. Perform any other duties related to cost control and quantity surveying as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Employee Qualification & Requirement

* Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Construction Management, or other related fields.

* OR a recognized National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.

* Experience:

* Total work experience: Minimum 8 years.

* Similar work experience: Minimum 4 years in quantity surveying/estimation roles on large-scale infrastructure or water supply projects.

* Other Requirements:

* Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and contract administration software.

* Strong analytical and numerical skills.

* Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions is an added advantage.

* Excellent communication and reporting skills.
