Financial Controller (Small/Mid-Market Agency Specialist – Night Shift, USA Hours)

100% Office-Based

Financial Controller
with strong US GAAP knowledge, hands-on QuickBooks Online expertise, and a proven ability to manage international B2B clients in
small- to mid-market agency environments
.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly strategic, client-facing, and able to operate across multiple functions rather than simply closing the books.

This is a
full-time, office-based
role aligned to USA business hours.

MUST HAVE (Non-Negotiable Requirements)

Candidates must meet ALL requirements below to be considered:

  • QuickBooks Online experience (mandatory – zero exceptions)
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge (cannot train on this)
  • Background in small/mid-market agencies or SME consulting environments (NOT enterprise, NOT Big Four)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Financial Controller
  • Experience managing international B2B clients in service-based or agency settings
  • Ability to be client-facing, strategic, and proactive
  • Demonstrated ability to wear multiple hats (operations + accounting + advisory)
  • Strong leadership experience managing remote and cross-functional finance teams
  • Understanding of ASC 606, revenue recognition, and ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, SAP, Excel)

Key Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all finance-related client matters.
  • Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with international clients.
  • Collaborate across platforms (Slack, Teams, Skype) with a strict 2-hour response time.
  • Provide strategic, data-driven financial insights tailored to each client's operational needs.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead U.S. and international finance teams.
  • Delegate effectively, manage workloads, and ensure accountability.
  • Mentor team members and support long-term professional development.
  • Partner with FP&A teams to ensure accuracy of reporting and financial analyses.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Own month-end close, financial statements, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Strengthen internal controls, processes, and compliance.
  • Improve systems for accuracy, scalability, and consistency.
  • Recommend and implement financial software upgrades when needed.

Strategic Financial Oversight

  • Understand and interpret client KPIs and business models.
  • Anticipate financial challenges and propose proactive solutions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each client's reporting, audit, and compliance requirements.

CPG Experience:

  • Inventory flow, DTC/wholesale, sales tax, COGS vs Opex.

Tech/SaaS Experience:

  • Revenue waterfalls, deferred revenue, cost capitalization.
