This role is for Full-Time work in Mombassa, Kenya - this is where our main office is.

Role Description

• Draft, negotiate, and review corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with industrial and commercial clients.
• Ensure all agreements provide robust legal protections for Compass Energy, including risk allocation, performance obligations, and bankability.
• Manage regulatory compliance and approvals with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and other Kenyan authorities.
• Oversee and negotiate EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and vendor contracts to protect Compass Energy's interests.
• Provide strategic legal support on permitting, licensing, and applications critical to project development.
• Liaise with financiers, advisors, and regulators to ensure compliance with project finance and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 3–10 years' PQE in energy, infrastructure, or project finance law.
• Deep knowledge of Kenya's regulatory framework and experience working with EPRA.
• Track record in negotiating corporate PPAs and large-scale EPC/vendor contracts.
• Strong commercial acumen, balancing risk management with Compass's growth objectives.
• Experience working with industrial or commercial clients in the energy sector is a plus.
