About: Self Help Africa (SHA) is an international NGO dedicated to supporting rural Africa's economic growth and resilience. With a focus on smallholder farmers, farmer associations, and agribusinesses, SHA works towards enhancing food production, improving diets, and building sustainable livelihoods resilient to external challenges. SHA collaborates with Trade Mark Africa (TMA) under the Economic Recovery and Reform Activity (ERRA) program, funded by USAID, to promote trade and investment reforms in East and Horn of Africa.

Job Purpose: The Trade Development Officer will assist the Project Manager in implementing the Women in Trade programme by preparing project documents, progress reports, tracking activities, and analyzing data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in implementing activities and managing recruitment.
  • Provide guidance on policy dialogue and maintain links with project MSMEs.
  • Develop project reports, market facilitation, and market linkages.
  • Facilitate relationships between project participants and stakeholders.
  • Strengthen SMEs, provide business development advisory, and facilitate market transactions.
  • Assist in training, adoption of new technologies, and field-level assessments.
  • Support in developing budgets, work plans, and representing SHA at various levels.

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Strong computer and M&E skills
  • Experience in private sector development and agricultural programs
  • Understandings of market systems, business development, and value addition
  • Engagement with development partners and stakeholders
