Job Purpose:


The Assistant Accountant- GL & Fixed Assets plays a crucial role in maintaining precise records of assets, handling asset additions and disposals, calculating gains and losses, tracking asset movements, making month-end journal entries related to fixed asset activities, and computing depreciation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and confirming expense general ledger accounts, and processing appropriate journal entries to ensure proper capital handling.
  • Preparing and uploading all general ledger (GL) journals for monthly transactions.
  • Maintaining accurate prepayments and accrual schedules to reflect the general ledger's true status.
  • Performing monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and generating reports.
  • Implementing financial controls to maintain data integrity and facilitate regular reconciliations.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best accounting practices.
  • Preparing management accounts, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and budget analysis.

Fixed Assets Responsibilities:
  • Establishing a system to record fixed assets accurately.
  • Maintaining the company's fixed assets and depreciation schedules effectively.
  • Assigning tag numbers to fixed assets for efficient tracking.
  • Recording newly acquired fixed assets in the accounting system.
  • Coordinating the disposal of obsolete fixed assets.
  • Performing depreciation calculations and reconciliations for fixed assets.
  • Tracking asset movements and coordinating physical verifications.
  • Preparing insurance schedules and tax computation schedules for assets.
  • Reconciling fixed assets register with the general ledger monthly.

People Management & Leadership:
  • Engaging in continuous learning and seeking feedback for personal development.

  • Building positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.

Client Engagement and Management:
  • Developing and maintaining beneficial relationships with external stakeholders.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or business-related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 1 year in AP/AR management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and financial systems.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards.
  • Strong financial, risk, client, people management, and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Governance and Operational Risk Management:
  • Accountability for role-specific duties as per Company Guidelines and Policies.
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Delegated Authorities Matrix, Business Requirement Document, and Risk Management Policies.
