- Under the supervision of the IPSTC Head of Curriculum Design, the secondee will assist in the day-to-day work of the program focusing on designing innovative training materials and learning experiences both online and face-to-face, as well as managing projects related to training and capacity building to strengthen sustainable peace. Context and overview The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Nairobi, Kenya, is an institution dedicated to providing training, research, and education in peace support operations. Established in 2001, it initially focused on training Kenya Defense Forces for United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions. In 2011, it was expanded and designated as an autonomous regional training center mandated to carry out capacity building in peace support operations for the benefit of military, police, and civilian personnel from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), other African countries and the rest of the world. As such, IPSTC offers various courses and programs aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of peace operations personnel in responding to complex emergencies. The IPSTC has the mission to improve the effectiveness of peace support operations through comprehensive training and research. Within the IPSTC, the Curriculum Design Section manages over 70 IPSTC owned courses and a sizeable number of hosted training programs. About 14 IPSTC owned courses have received accreditation from the UN Integrated Training Service. Switzerland supports the IPSTC currently with four military secondments. The TORs below envisage to complement the already existing efforts by the Swiss Department of Defense by seconding a civilian expert to the IPSTC through the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. This effort is in line with Switzerland's International Cooperation Strategy so support capacity building activities and training institutions to strengthen sustainable peace.

-  Tasks and responsibilities: 
- The Senior Learning Solutions Specialist to be seconded to the Curriculum Design Section of the IPSTC will be actively engaged in the following tasks: 
- Analyzing of training needs;
- Designing new curricula and/ or review existing, including revisiting and improving methodologies and formats, where needed; 
- Perform training quality control and evaluation;
- Liaising with partners to seek opportunities to host already exiting courses at IPSTC;
- Facilitating course
- Building up of e-learning courses or modules, where relevant. Qualification and Experience Education

Qualification and Experience Education

- Master degree in international studies, international law, development studies or similar. Knowledge and experience
- Experience and/or knowledge in designing learning materials for adults;
• Experience and/or knowledge with various participatory methodological approaches to training and learning; 2/2
• Experience and/or knowledge in the field of peace and security, development or humanitarian, or similar
- Experience and/or knowledge in emerging topics, such as Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS), Digital Peacebuilding/Peacekeeping, Climate Security etc.
- Basic knowledge on gender mainstreaming in peace and security. Skills
- Presentation, facilitation and communication skills;
• Strong team work skills
- Ability to respect diversity and work in a multi-dimensional and multi-national setting;
• Ability to take initiative and to seek innovative approaches and solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to liaise with partner institutions in a professional and competent manner
- Proficiency in English.
