About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Communication Specialist to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication and knowledge management strategies to support our climate change programme.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental communication, with experience in developing and implementing communication plans, writing and editing publications, and managing social media platforms.

You will work closely with our programme teams to identify opportunities for communication and knowledge management, develop and implement strategies to reach diverse audiences, and evaluate the impact of our communications efforts.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement communication and knowledge management strategies to support our climate change programme.

  2. Write and edit publications, including reports, briefs, and newsletters.

  3. Manage social media platforms to engage with diverse audiences and promote our programme's activities.

  4. Identify opportunities for communication and knowledge management, and develop and implement strategies to reach diverse audiences.

  5. Evaluate the impact of our communications efforts and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in environmental science, communication, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental communication, with experience in developing and implementing communication plans, writing and editing publications, and managing social media platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write engaging and accurate content for diverse audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate the impact of our communications efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
