About the Position

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Evaluation Expert to lead the Independent Evaluation Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the evaluation function, providing leadership and management of the office, and ensuring that evaluations are conducted in accordance with UNFPA's Evaluation Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Independent Evaluation Office, ensuring that it operates independently and impartially;">
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation plan, including the identification of priorities and the allocation of resources;">
  • Oversee the conduct of corporate evaluations, including thematic and country programme evaluations, in accordance with the approved evaluation plan;">
  • Ensure that the office maintains an adequate level of expertise and provides technical assistance and capacity development to enhance the centralized and decentralized evaluation function;">
  • Facilitate learning and knowledge sharing, and promote the use of state-of-the-art evaluation methods and approaches;">
  • Presents results of evaluation reports, as needed, for decision to the Executive Committee;">
  • Prepares and presents the Annual Report of the Independent Evaluation Office to the Executive Board;">
  • Represent UNFPA in international and inter-agency meetings on matters related to Evaluations, ensuring that UNFPA's interests are well represented at all times;">
  • Participates in the development of inter-agency frameworks, initiatives, and partnerships, including networking with other UN bodies and professional institutions on evaluation matters;">

Requirements

  • ">
  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in evaluation work at progressively increasing levels, with at least 8 years of related work experience at the international level;">
  • Professional experience in international development and humanitarian settings;">
  • Excellent technical knowledge of evaluation design, data collection, including quantitative statistical methods/methodologies and analysis and reporting;">
  • Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of another official UN language is highly desirable;">
  • Exemplifying integrity, demonstrating commitment to UNFPA and the UN system, embracing cultural diversity, and embracing change;">
  • Achieving results, being accountable, developing and applying professional expertise/business acumen, thinking analytically and strategically, working in teams/managing ourselves and our relationships, communicating for impact;">
