About the Role

This is an opportunity to work in a critical function within our organization, providing expertise on business integrity and risk management. As an Integrity Counsel, you will be responsible for advising business teams on integrity risks as they impact our clients, partners, transactions, and new products/initiatives in East Africa.

The role involves evaluating integrity and reputational risks, making recommendations, and providing solutions to mitigate these risks. You will also employ knowledge, expertise, and sound judgment to address our unique integrity risk profile and develop expertise in regional IDD issues across all industries in which we work.

In addition to providing legal advice to business teams and management on integrity-related matters, you will assist with crisis management in portfolio projects and draft disclosures for Board papers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing expert advice on international business transactions, project finance, investment funds, or litigation, including experience advising on business integrity-related matters such as anti-corruption laws, AML/CFT, economic sanctions, etc.
• Reviewing current integrity-related provisions in our legal agreements and drafting new integrity-related provisions in our legal agreements and bespoke legal provisions in our financing documents.
• Negotiating with clients to build out contractual protections on integrity-related matters.
• Advising on integrity-related provisions for legal documentation relating to new products/initiatives and supporting corporate initiatives and working groups, particularly focused on Fragile and Conflict States (FCS), to identify possible integrity risk concerns and solutions.

We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can provide strategic guidance and support to our business teams. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent qualification and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working in East Africa or similar regions is highly desirable.

We offer comprehensive benefits, including a retirement plan, medical, life and disability insurance, and paid leave. We are proud to be an equal opportunity and inclusive employer and do not discriminate based on gender, gender identity, religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability.
