Job Opportunity: Communications Professional

We are seeking a skilled Communications Professional to join our team and contribute to the success of our organization.

Job Description:

  • Develop compelling content, including written, visual, and multimedia materials, that highlights our impact and showcases our work.
  • Collect and draft human-interest stories, case studies, and testimonies from the field to demonstrate our effectiveness.
  • Capture and edit engaging video content, including summaries of program impact and individual case studies, to share with stakeholders.
  • Prepare success stories and assist with donor branding and marketing guidelines to ensure consistency in messaging.
  • Develop advocacy content, including video testimonials and other multimedia assets, to amplify our message.
  • Support the creation of newsletters, blog posts, and other communication materials as required.
  • Assist country teams in creating content that aligns with global fundraising and communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation & Storytelling:
  • Develop engaging written, visual, and multimedia content that highlights our impact.
  • Collect and draft human-interest stories, case studies, and testimonies from the field.
  • Capture and edit engaging video content, including summaries of program impact and individual case studies.
  • Prepare success stories.
  • Assist with Street Child and donor branding, and marketing guidelines.
  • Develop advocacy content, including video testimonials and other multimedia assets.
  • Support the creation of newsletters, blog posts, and other communication materials as required.
  • Assist country teams in creating content that aligns with global fundraising and communication strategies.
Social Media & Digital Engagement:
  • Develop and manage social media accounts, including content scheduling and community engagement, in line with organisation guidelines.
  • Develop an annual social media content calendar, aligning with organisational messaging and content, where relevant.
  • Develop content for on social media channels and prepare relevant social media posts.
  • Create visually appealing posts, infographics, and short videos to enhance engagement.
  • Ensure content aligns with Street Child's global social media strategy and visibility needs.
  • Monitor digital trends and suggest innovative ways to improve Street Child's online presence.
  • Track social media channel performance.
Media & Advocacy Support:
  • Support media outreach efforts, including drafting press releases and building national media contact lists.
  • Develop and distribute content for advocacy purposes, including stories and visual materials.
  • Support the policy and external engagement team in the development of policy briefs.
  • Track media mentions and compile reports on communication impact.
  • Assist in organizing online and in-person advocacy campaigns and events.
  • Support the creation of visibility materials, including office branding, banners, posters, flyers, and branded clothing.
Internal & External Communications:
  • Develop a regional communications strategy aligned with Street Child's global strategy.
  • Assist with donor and partner communication materials, ensuring consistency in messaging.
  • Help country teams design campaigns that enhance Street Child's visibility and public engagement.
  • Support internal knowledge-sharing efforts by curating success stories and project updates.
  • Ensure Skyfish remains updated with videos, photos and case studies.
  • Maintain a database of communications assets, including reports.
  • Assist ESARO countries with their communications needs and ensure alignment with Street Child's branding and marking guidelines.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with social media management and digital marketing.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar).
  • Passion for international development, education, and child protection.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Desirable:

  • Experience in NGO communications or journalism.
  • Knowledge of Swahili, Portuguese and/or French.
  • Photography and video editing skills.
  • Prior experience in an East or Southern Africa contexts.
