Our client, an international school whose mission is to provide every child with the best possible educational journey is seeking a Deputy Head of School to join their leadership team. This is a strategic campus-based leadership position designed as a natural progression toward Head of School.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator and leader who can balance daily school management with long-term improvement, safeguarding, academic excellence, and strong community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & School Management
  • Deputise for the Head of School and act as Acting Head when required.

  • Represent the school in internal and external engagements.

  • Ensure continuity of standards, policies, and strategic priorities.

2. School Improvement & Strategy
  • Contribute to strategic planning, school self-evaluation, and annual improvement goals.

  • Use data to identify gaps and drive interventions.

  • Lead or co-lead improvement projects.

3. Academic Quality & Teaching Standards
  • Monitor teaching quality, conduct lesson observations, and provide coaching.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment programmes.

  • Teach up to 20–30% as needed.

4. Safeguarding, Risk & Compliance
  • Lead safeguarding oversight and ensure full compliance.

  • Conduct daily readiness checks and ensure proper risk assessments.

  • Support crisis management and emergency procedures.

5. People Leadership
  • Line-manage assigned staff and coordinate appraisals, coaching, and CPD.

  • Lead staff briefings, curriculum meetings, and operational updates.

6. Recruitment & Professional Development
  • Participate in shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding, and talent development.

7. Operational Oversight
  • Coordinate with Admissions, IT, Facilities, Catering, and HQ departments.

  • Oversee duty rosters, cover schedules, clubs, trips, and school events.

8. Parent & Staff Engagement
  • Act as first escalation point for parents and staff.

  • Promote a positive culture and wellbeing.

  • Conduct parent tours and support enrolment activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Essential)

  • Minimum 5 years' teaching experience with strong student outcomes

  • Prior leadership experience (Coordinator, Deputy, HoD, etc.)

  • Experience with safeguarding and Health & Safety

  • International or bilingual school experience (Desirable)

  • Experience supporting school improvement or inspections (Desirable)

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment knowledge

  • Skilled in data analysis and intervention planning

  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills

  • Strong organisational and time-management ability

  • Ability to engage parents and support admissions

  • Familiarity with MIS systems (OpenApply, ManageBac, etc.) is a plus
