Position Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Full time - Kenya Office)

Job Type: Full-Time, 1-year contract (with possibility of renewal)

Position Summary:
IIRR is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to support the implementation of robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems for the project. The M&E Officer will work closely with the program team to ensure effective tracking of project outcomes, promote continuous learning, and support adaptive management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the project's M&E framework and data collection systems.
  • Collect, compile, and clean routine data from field activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Maintain and regularly update the M&E database to reflect project progress.
  • Develop and adapt data collection tools aligned with project indicators and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and support verification exercises to ensure reliable and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly M&E updates and reports for the Program Manager.
  • Organize and participate in regular review and reflection meetings to analyze project performance and recommend improvements.
  • Support the planning and implementation of surveys and evaluations, including logistics, data collection, entry, and cleaning.
  • Assist in training and mentoring field staff on basic M&E procedures, data entry protocols, and documentation practices.
  • Ensure proper filing, organization, and archiving of all M&E-related documents (e.g., tools, datasets, reports).
  • Support compliance with donor requirements and internal organizational reporting standards.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, international development, or related field
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in M&E, research, or data management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis techniques
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with rural development or trade-focused programs
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel Charts)
  • Experience working in multi-country or multi-time-zone teams
  • Working knowledge of Swahili is an asset

Working Environment:
This is a full-time position based in Nairobi. The M&E Officer must be comfortable collaborating remotely with colleagues across IIRR's global teams. The role requires regular use of Zoom, email, Google Workspace, and other shared digital platforms to ensure effective coordination and communication.
