Role Overview

We are looking for an
Infrastructure & Regional Trade Policy Associate
to support applied research, advisory delivery, and policy diagnostics in East Africa and related cross-border regions. This role is ideal for professionals engaged in trade logistics, regional integration, or public-sector transformation—particularly within the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), COMESA, or EAC transport corridors.

You will contribute to trade competitiveness assessments, infrastructure policy reviews, and investment prioritization efforts for public agencies and multilateral clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of infrastructure projects, logistics performance indicators, and regional transport dynamics
  • Draft technical briefs, policy papers, and stakeholder engagement memos for government clients and DFIs
  • Map trade facilitation bottlenecks, customs integration gaps, and cross-border regulatory barriers
  • Support diagnostic reports and investment strategy frameworks for corridor development
  • Monitor developments in AfCFTA implementation, port modernization, and trade infrastructure financing

Qualifications

  • Degree in International Trade, Public Policy, Transport Planning, or Development Economics
  • 2–5 years of experience in trade and transport policy, infrastructure advisory, or economic development
  • Familiarity with East African trade corridors, AfCFTA protocols, or donor-funded infrastructure projects is a strong plus
  • Strong writing, policy research, and data interpretation skills
  • Fluency in English required
