JOB PURPOSE:
 As the Credit Officer, you will be responsible for driving client acquisition, assessing creditworthiness, and managing the end-to-end loan process - from application and approval to disbursement and repayment. The role ensures timely collections, maintains strong customer relationships, and supports portfolio growth while minimizing credit risk.

The Credit Officer also provides guidance to clients, ensures compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements, and contributes to the overall profitability and sustainability of the institution.

Key Responsibilities;

a)    Loan Sales and Processing:

· Identify and assess potential loan applicants, including evaluating their credit worthiness.

· Promote loan products and services to customers, explaining terma and conditions.

· Assist customers in completing loan applications and documentation.

· Ensure compliance with company lending policies and regulatory requirements.

b)   Insurance Product Sales:

· Promote insurance products to customers and explain their benefits.

· Meet or exceed assigned targets for insurance product sales to contribute to non-funded income growth.

· Educate customers on the importance of insurance coverage.

c)    Customer Relationship Management:

· Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.

· Address customer inquiries, concerns and requests related to loans and insurance products.

· Gather customer feedback and relay it to the Branch Manager for improvement.

d)   Loan Disbursement and Collections:

· Assist in the loan disbursement process to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for customers.

· Monitor loan portfolio quality and assist in collections efforts when necessary.

· Collaborate with the Branch Manager and Credit Operations team to maintain a collection rate of 90% or higher.

e)    Regulatory compliance:

· Ensure all loan and insurance transactions adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies.

· Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.

f)     Reporting:

· Provide regular reports on loan and insurance product sales to the Branch Manager.

· Collaborate with the Branch Manager to analyze performance data and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

·      Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, or related field.

·      Minimum 2 years' experience in credit appraisal, loan processing, or lending operations.

·      Strong analytical, customer relationship, and communication skills.

·      Knowledge of credit policies, regulatory requirements, and loan management systems.
