Jasiri, one of AGGPR's main programs, invests in, nurtures, and empowers entrepreneurs who benefit society and attack poverty through the creation of high-impact new businesses, creating new markets on the African continent.
Jasiri Talent Investor is a one-year program for high-potential individuals who display exceptional entrepreneurial potential to form part of a community of high-impact, responsible entrepreneurs growing businesses from scratch. Participants are funded and guided through a process of team formation, idea generation, business validation, and market entry. The program introduces Jasiri Fellows to equally ambitious co-founders and supports them on an individual, team, and business level through seasoned Facilitators and Coaches.
Jasiri Growth Accelerator invests in early stages, high-potential startups that may still be too risky for commercial funders to invest in. Early-stage ventures with potential for high growth and demonstrated product-market fit are provided with funding to support their growth and assisted with investor readiness.
Wavumbuzi – a Jasiri pipeline building program – is a free annual six-week online entrepreneurship challenge focused on developing the entrepreneurial mindset of secondary/high school learners throughout the country. The challenge is designed to equip students with competencies to be the next generation of global leaders, change-makers, and innovative thinkers.
About the PositionThe Founders Scouting Manager will develop, plan, and execute strategies aimed at sourcing, attracting, and selecting qualified candidates and ventures for Jasiri. S/he will also support the strategy development and execution of recruitment and selection for both Jasiri programs. This role will sit within the Jasiri Program Team and work alongside Country Directors, Head of Program Design, Knowledge & Research Unit, and Systems teams to develop context-relevant, targeted, and data-driven recruitment and selection initiatives, tools, and systems for the Talent Investor and Growth Accelerator programs. The Founders Scouting Manager reports directly to the JTI Program Lead.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a robust targeted recruitment and pipeline building strategy for the Jasiri Talent Investor Program in seeking and selecting high-potential entrepreneurial individuals meeting the Jasiri Talent Investor eligibility criteria.
Spearhead and execute a targeted recruitment strategy and initiatives to identify and source startups with potential for high growth for the Jasiri Growth Accelerator.
Draw from the selection output to review the quality of applications to ensure relevant and context-specific recruitment activities.
Make recommendations on strategy and initiatives on pipeline building, aiming at strengthening the quality of applications across countries of operations.
Work in close collaboration with the Country Directors and the Ecosystem & Partnerships Manager to initiate and manage strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as the Government, the Entrepreneurship ecosystem, Global Leadership Programs, Investors, and diaspora networks.
Spearhead recruitment campaigns, activities, and processes while regularly monitoring their outcomes, recommending changes, and always ensuring best practices.
Coordinate and manage the scouting team, setting targets, monitoring their performance, and results.
Lead the process of building in-depth relationships with potential candidates/startups, managing their progression throughout the entire application and selection process.
Collaborate with the Entrepreneurship Community Manager to build relationships with Jasiri Fellows, encourage strong referrals, and leverage their networks.
Manage the effective execution of the entire selection process (planning, execution, reporting) and cross-functional collaboration.
Provide timely analytical recruitment reports to the team.
Effectively track and update the Jasiri Applicant Tracking System and dashboards in collaboration with the CRM Administrator.
In Collaboration with the technical team, refine automated communications to inform candidates of their application status, assessment expectations, and outcomes at all stages of the selection process.
Ensure the timely contracting of service providers as required.
Leverage local/regional/international events & networking opportunities to build Jasiri programs brand awareness.
Work with the KRU team to analyze selection data and recommend steps towards an improved selection process.
Support the design of rigorous and effective assessment tools for all stages of the selection process.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies, Business Administration, International Business or Marketing.
Over 4 years' experience in founders sourcing, startup scouting, and recruitment for entrepreneurship development programs (incubators, accelerators).
Familiarity with Entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Proven ability to execute cross-country recruitment campaigns and build partnerships that support pipeline development.
Strong experience in data analysis.
Experience working with and building various stakeholder relationships.
Experience leading and managing teams.
Ability to work extended hours during peak and intensive portions of the program life cycles.
Proven experience and advanced proficiency in a variety of relevant digital productivity tools.
