We're looking for a
driven, detail-oriented Accountant Intern
who's ready to help us build and manage the financial backbone of a startup in its early, exciting phase.

You'll be joining our
founding team
, working directly with the CEO to set up systems for:

  • Managing daily transactions and expense tracking
  • Handling client invoices and receipts
  • Recording commissions and deferred payments
  • Preparing monthly financial summaries
  • Assisting in budgeting and revenue forecasting

This role is ideal for someone who wants
hands-on startup experience
and the chance to grow into a
Finance & Operations Lead
as Popup SMMA scales.

Responsibilities

  • Create ad-hoc reports for various business needs
  • Prepare tax documents
  • Managing daily transactions and expense tracking
  • Handling client invoices and receipts
  • Recording commissions and deferred payments
  • Preparing monthly financial summaries
  • Assisting in budgeting and revenue forecasting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Compensation

As a growing startup, we're currently operating on a
deferred payment model
— meaning your work now earns you a seat at the table when revenue starts coming in.

Once client billing stabilizes (expected within 2–3 months), this role transitions to
a paid position with performance bonuses
and a clear path to
full-time employment
.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (recent graduates welcome)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
  • Attention to detail and a love for clean, transparent numbers
  • A self-starter with good communication and integrity
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting tools (Excel, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Someone who believes in
    African entrepreneurship and digital transformation
