BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The ongoing conflict in Sudan has triggered the world's largest hunger crisis and famine has been confirmed in North Darfur. Two million people across the country either face famine or are at risk of famine. Without assistance, hundreds of thousands could die of hunger.  In response to the situation, WFP has embarked on an ambitious scale-up plan. Ensuring that the WFP operations are well-funded is at the core of the Country Office priorities.

To maintain trusted relations with donors, timely reporting on incidents impacting donor funds is fundamental.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Sudan Country Office seeks a Partnership and Reporting Assistant to support with the drafting and consolidating of data, analysis and reports around incidents impacting donor funds. The assignment is for an initial three-month period and can be extended when the longer-term requirements of the office are defined. The job will focus on the following tasks:

Key accountabilities (not all inclusive):

  • Compile data, support analysis and the preparation of donor reports on incidents impacting donor funds in coordination with Country Office colleagues
  • Perform accurate, timely recording and tracking of incident reports to donors
  • Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration and monitoring of incidents impacting donor funds
  • Draft donor briefings on incidents impacting donor funds, in coordination with Risk team and other involved Country Office colleagues
  • Maintain systems, databases and country office tracking tools updated with key donor information
  • Support the analysis and preparation of donor data and statistics
  • Perform any other tasks, as required by the Country Office and the Partnership and Reporting Unit

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

University degree in Business Administration, Development, Financial Management or other field relevant to international development assistance.  A diploma in the same fields with experience in the related functional area is acceptable.

Experience:

Relevant experience from partnership and donor work, including the preparation of draft donor reports, presentations, data and basic analysis. Experience from the UN is desired.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of individuals to provide a high-quality support service.
  • Ability to carry out basic data analysis and independently rectify problems requiring attention
  • Ability to monitor and record data
  • Good communication skills required to give and receive information and work with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Language:

Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station's language, if different.
