Role Overview

A vegetable processing company in
Kenya
, seeks a results-driven
Logistics and Supply Chain Manager
to oversee and optimize its end-to-end supply chain. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient procurement, transport, warehousing, and export of products while maintaining cost-effectiveness and compliance with local and international standards.

Role objective

To oversee and manage all logistics, warehousing, and freight operations for the vegetable and canned foods processing company, ensuring efficient movement of goods from production to distribution and export destinations. The role ensures cost-effective, compliant, and timely delivery of products while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards

Key Responsibilities

Ø Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.

Ø Manage export and local logistics operations, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to client and regulatory requirements.

Ø Optimize freight routes and modes (road, sea, or air) to achieve cost efficiency and minimize delivery lead times.

Ø Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with transporters, shipping lines, and freight forwarders.

Ø Ensure compliance with customs, KEBS, KEPHIS, and export documentation standards for international shipments.

Ø Coordinate with production, warehouse, and sales teams to align logistics schedules with demand and production plans.

Ø Implement and monitor inventory management systems, including FIFO and cold chain logistics for perishables.

Ø Ensure all shipments are properly documented, tracked, and insured throughout the supply chain.

Ø Lead the implementation of logistics performance KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ø Oversee warehouse operations, packaging logistics, and container loading to ensure space optimization and safety compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Ø Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

Ø Professional certification in logistics or supply chain is an added advantage.

Ø Minimum 5 years' experience in logistics or freight management within FMCG, food processing, or export industries.

Ø Strong understanding of customs clearance, export documentation, and East African logistics networks.

Ø Experience managing cold chain logistics and containerized shipments.

Key Skills and Competencies

Ø Excellent planning, coordination, and negotiation skills.

Ø Proficiency in ERP/logistics management systems.

Ø Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cost-control abilities.

Ø Leadership and team management experience.

Ø Knowledge of regional and international freight regulations.

Ø Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Ø On-time delivery performance.

Ø Freight cost efficiency and reduction.

Ø Warehouse space utilization and inventory accuracy.

Ø Customs clearance turnaround time.

Ø Customer satisfaction and complaint rate.

Ø Compliance with export and transport regulations.
