Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operations of menu and food preparation for our multi-unit kitchens. You will be responsible for maintaining high food quality standards, and supporting the overall efficiency of our operations. This position requires a strong attention to detail, an excellent multitasking ability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Job Requirements:

Culinary Expertise: Basic knowledge of culinary techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment is essential. This includes familiarity with knife skills, food preparation, cooking temperatures, and various cooking methods such as grilling, sautéing, baking, and frying.
Food Safety and Sanitation: Understanding and adherence to food safety and sanitation practices is crucial to maintain a hygienic and safe working environment. Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, personal hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention is necessary.
Attention to Detail: The ability to pay close attention to detail is important in following recipes and instructions accurately. This includes precise measurements, portioning, and plating techniques to ensure consistency and quality in food presentation.
Physical Stamina: Working in a professional kitchen can be physically demanding, requiring standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job are necessary.
Teamwork and Communication Skills: Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, as a Commis Chef often works as part of a team. The ability to effectively communicate with team members, follow instructions, and collaborate to achieve common goals is important.
Time Management: The ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks is crucial in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Good time management skills ensure that dishes are prepared and cooked within specified time frames to meet service demands.
Flexibility: Commis Chefs often work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility in scheduling and the willingness to adapt to changing demands are important traits for this role.
Culinary Passion: A genuine passion for cooking and a desire to learn and develop culinary skills are valuable assets in a Commis Chef. A willingness to continuously improve and stay updated with industry trends and techniques is beneficial.
Adaptability and Resilience: The ability to work under pressure, handle a high volume of orders, and adapt to changing circumstances is important. Being resilient and maintaining a positive attitude during busy and demanding periods is crucial for success.

Qualifications:

Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (mandatory)
Prior experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role is preferred.
Basic understanding of culinary techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding kitchen environment.
