Shipping Technician and Head of Shipping Unit

The U.S. Embassy to Kenya was established back in 1964. Throughout the years, the Embassy has strengthened the bonds between the American and Kenyan communities and catered to the requirements of Americans in and around this East African center.

Duties:

  • Oversee the shipping unit, being the main touchpoint for the Office.
  • Perform exit checks on received materials and prepare them for shipment.
  • Coordinate and arrange inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Communicate with program participants and procure shipping supplies.
  • Handle the unpacking and initial sorting of materials from Sub-Saharan African countries.

Requirements:

Experience: Two years of previous experience in shipping-related roles is a must.

Job Knowledge: Understanding of materials packing, shipping operations, and local import/export laws.

Education: Completion of Secondary School is mandatory.

Evaluations:

Language: Proficiency in both English (Basic level) and Kiswahili (Good working knowledge) is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to differentiate between various types of library materials.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and basic keyboarding skills.
