Join our team at [Company Name] as a Field and Greenhouse Experimentation Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in conducting experiments and maintaining a safe and efficient greenhouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement field and greenhouse experiments, including trial layout, land preparation, pot filling, planting, harvesting, and routine maintenance.
  • Maintain a safety duplicate of vegetatively-propagated Genebank materials.
  • Collect and record field data, including soil moisture determination, plant growth parameters, and disease symptoms.
  • Conduct seed viability and germination experiments.
  • Prepare samples for nutritional profiling, including drying, grinding, and weighing.
  • Provide general support for forage establishment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school certificate (KCSE) or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar position, with hands-on knowledge of field and greenhouse procedures, including soil sterilization, potting, planting, watering, pest control, and sample collection.
  • Knowledge of greenhouse procedures, plant propagation, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of trial layout and experimental design.
  • Basic knowledge of plant agronomy.
  • Basic knowledge of using sample preparation equipment, including milling machines and oven driers.
  • Relevant training on working with plants and plant pathogens.
  • Familiarity with routine screen/greenhouse procedures.
