Job Title: Innovation Advisor

About the Job

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a skilled and experienced innovation advisor to support its Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa in disrupting hunger in the region.

The successful candidate will work with Country Offices across the region, functional units in RBN, and stakeholders in the regional innovation ecosystem to develop and implement innovative solutions to address food insecurity and poverty.

The role requires strong networks of actors in African innovation ecosystems and a nuanced understanding of the sector and its development over the past decade.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Country Offices in developing localized innovation strategies, programmes, and projects
  • Work with the Regional Learning and Impact Advisor to build capability to execute innovation activities and measure impact
  • Support knowledge management, capturing and sharing knowledge from innovation activities between Country Offices and externally
  • Collect, analyze, and present knowledge, information, and data on Country Office innovation needs and activities relevant for the hub's broader learning, program design, and fundraising activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, innovation, design, international development, or other related degrees
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in African start-ups, consulting, FMCG private businesses, or innovation/entrepreneur support in the humanitarian/international development sector
  • Experience supporting Country Offices on innovation programmes, capacity building, and field support
