Junior Accountant Role

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in the Finance department, working closely with the Head of Finance. Key tasks include managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely reconciliations.

Main Tasks
  • Handling and managing financial transactions
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Reconciling bank statements and other accounts
  • Processing and verifying invoices and payments
  • Participating in audits and ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Supporting tax compliance activities, including preparing tax returns and other statutory payments

Accounting and Financial Management

  • Timely preparation of monthly balance sheets and other financial reports
  • Resolving discrepancies arising from reconciliations accurately and promptly
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommending action to improve financial efficiency
  • Monitoring cost trends and variances and providing detailed reports to management
  • Performing reconciliations for bank, M-Pesa, and cash
  • Conducting financial analysis to evaluate project profitability, cash flow projections, and return on investment
  • Maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, relevant tax regulations
  • Performing accounting duties such as preparing invoices, cash flow preparation
  • Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review
  • Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Undertaking banking duties as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned
