The Project Accountant is responsible for mainly supporting the financial management of construction and real estate projects. This role involves close collaboration with construction project teams to ensure accurate recording of actual expenditures, monitoring of project budgets, and timely identification and reporting of variances. The Project Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting project delivery through effective cost control and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with construction project teams to gather and verify financial data.
  • Ensure all actual project costs are accurately recorded in the accounting system.
  • Monitor project budgets and flag any discrepancies or variances to management
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and forecasts for ongoing projects.
  • Support project managers with financial insights and budget tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support project audits.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all project-related financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance project management systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in project accounting.
  • Experience in real estate management and construction project accounting is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting and cost control.
