Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented PR & Communications Assistant to support our growing communications efforts. This role is pivotal in enhancing our firm's reputation, increasing brand visibility, and engaging with our key audiences across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be a sharp writer, a social media native, and have a passion for storytelling. You will play a key role in executing our PR strategies, managing our online presence, and supporting internal communications.
Key Responsibilities:
. Public Relations & Media Relations:

• Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, media alerts, and fact sheets.

• Help build and maintain the company's media contact list, fostering relationships with journalists and influencers in the business and HR sectors in Kenya.

• Monitor media coverage (print, online, broadcast) and compile weekly media reports.

• Support the planning and execution of PR events, such as press conferences and media briefings.
2. Content Creation & Social Media Management:
• Assist in creating engaging content for our social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to promote our services, company culture, and industry insights.

• Schedule and publish content using social media management tools.

• Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with our online community.

• Support the creation of marketing collateral, including blog posts, newsletters, and case studies.
3. Brand Management & Internal Communications:
• Help ensure all external communications align with the company's brand guidelines and voice.

• Support internal communication initiatives to keep employees informed and engaged.

• Assist in maintaining the company website, ensuring content is up-to-date.
4. Administrative Support:
• Maintain the PR & Communications calendar and activity tracker.

• Assist with reporting on PR and social media metrics (KPIs) to measure campaign effectiveness.

• Provide general administrative support to the communications team.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a PR, Communications, or similar role. Experience in a B2B, consulting, or professional services environment is a strong advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional Writing & Editing Skills: Ability to draft clear, concise, and compelling copy for different audiences and platforms.

  • Social Media Savvy: In-depth understanding of major social media platforms, especially LinkedIn, and best practices.

  • Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer), basic CMS (WordPress), and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Media Monitoring: Ability to use tools like Google Alerts to track brand mentions.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Proactive & Creative: A self-starter with a creative mindset and a keen eye for storytelling.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
