Role Description
We are seeking to recruit a highly organized and detail-oriented Planning & Documentation Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and documentation of the Company's fiber network infrastructure and creation of outside plant construction drawings. He/she will develop telecommunications outside plant design from preliminary design to completed packages including Conduit design, building entrances, aerial, buried and underground cable design. The candidate will also be tasked to
ensure proper documentation of the company's OSP and ISP network, thereby maintaining control of the outside plant (OSP) activities around assigned worksites.
Key Job Responsibilities for the Role
- Build graphical worksheets for contractors – develop necessary staking Sheets e.g. survey sheets
- Develop Drafts in Visio, AutoCAD and other programs
- Read and follow engineer's designs and instructions and/or specifications
- Develop and/or interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field with sufficient clarity and detail
- Convert available data into CAD and Visio Programs
- Recommend changes in running line or construction methodologies
- Enter and maintain outside plant records
- Develop, implement, and maintain all engineering, drafting and facilities records, through work order preparation and processing
- Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processing order to support the project contract
- Prepare and maintain splicing records and diagrams.
- Digitization of all records to an online fault on map documentation system
- Audit and accept contractor work to ensure conformance to design
- Management of company wayleaves and wayleave records
- Timely identification and mitigation of all potential Bottlenecks to guarantee uptime and Quality
- Learn/research on new technologies/practices in fiber space
- Evaluate Reliability and cost effectiveness of trials introduced in the network and their ability to keep up with emerging technologies
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Requirements for the Role
- Degree/ Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive and solid knowledge of outside and inside plant construction experience and planning and design of Fiber Optic Network construction
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, MAPINFO, QGIS, Microsoft Visio programs is mandatory
- Experience translating Business and Customer requirements into technology requirements
- Experience defining test cases and acceptance criteria based on user requirements
- Experience assessing the effectiveness of tests and testing tools
