Senior Investor Relations Manager (Fundraising)

Department: Investment

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Nairobi

Reporting To: CEO / Fund Partners and Investment Committee.

Description Allied Talent Partners (ATP), a Three Cairns Group initiative, is a mission-driven, not-for-profit talent marketplace focused on solving the human capital bottlenecks slowing down sustainable development efforts in emerging economies, with an initial focus on Africa.  ATP connects vetted, experienced, context-relevant professionals to high-impact opportunities in energy access and sustainable development – strengthening local capacity and fuelling economic vitality. We specialize in fixed-term, deliverable-driven engagements – from interim leadership and generalist projects to niche technical expertise – handling project scoping, talent vetting and matching, contracting, payroll, and compliance so that our clients can focus on impact.

High-Level Overview

Project:
Our client is preparing to launch a new climate-aligned investment vehicle, following a series of successful exits that have strengthened its institutional credibility and investor base. The new vehicle will target institutional investors and development finance partners focused on driving sustainable growth across the region.

As fundraising efforts intensify, the leadership team seeks to strengthen senior capacity in investor engagement and execution. The client is therefore seeking a Senior Investor Relations Manager to support fundraising and investor relations alongside senior leadership. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years' experience in private equity or related institutions, strong familiarity with African or emerging-market investors, and the ability to manage complex fundraising processes with clarity, structure, and professionalism.

Role and Responsibilities
Role: Senior Investor Relations Manager - Fundraising
Direct Report: CEO / Fund Partners and Investment Committee.
Candidates Required: 1

Key Deliverables:
  • Support the leadership team in driving the fundraising process for the new climate-aligned vehicle – managing outreach, investor engagement, and due diligence coordination.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for investors (DFIs, IFIs, fund-of-funds, family offices, and other institutional partners), managing queries and follow-ups with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Coordinate investor communications, presentations, and data room updates to ensure timely, high-quality responses during due diligence.
  • Work closely with the CEO, CFO, and Investment Director to prepare, refine, and update materials (pitch decks, PPMs, DDQs, impact reporting, and progress notes).
  • Track investor interactions and maintain a central pipeline of prospects, updates, and next steps across all fundraising workstreams.
  • Provide structure and visibility on investor feedback, status tracking, and engagement metrics to inform decision-making and follow-up actions.
  • Track fundraising progress against agreed milestones (e.g., investor meetings, diligence completions, and capital committed), providing updates to leadership. After first close, continue to manage investor relations, ensuring consistent reporting, transparent communication, and delivery of agreed commitments.

Requirements Experience Required:
  • 10+ years' experience in investor relations or fundraising, preferably within private equity, alternatives, or investment banking.
  • Demonstrated success managing LP relationships and raising capital across African or emerging markets.
  • Deep experience preparing and managing data rooms, DDQs, and CRM systems for investor processes.
  • Prior exposure to DFI or family office investors and co-funding arrangements is strongly preferred.

Technical Requirements:
  • Advanced degree (Master's preferred) or professional qualification in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of private equity fund structures, capital formation, performance metrics, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven fundraising or capital formation exposure within private equity, infrastructure, or climate-aligned investments.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret fund performance and communicate effectively with LPs.
  • Governance and ESG literacy, including practical experience designing or reporting on KPIs.
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial information into clear, persuasive investor narratives and presentations.
  • Knowledge of climate, energy, agriculture, forestry, or mobility sectors is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM or pipeline management tools.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with LPs, CEOs, and colleagues at varying levels of seniority.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement capability, confident in managing senior investor interactions.
  • Highly organised, delivery-focused, and comfortable managing multiple investor workstreams simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, and effective within a small, high-performing senior team.
  • Professional maturity, sound judgement, and presence in external settings.
  • Resilient, proactive, and solutions-oriented under time pressure.
Other Skills:
  • Deep professional networks across Nairobi and the wider East African investment ecosystem, with credibility among local investors, DFIs, and the private equity community are a priority.
