COMPANY INFORMATION        Our client is a well -established company thatspecializes in leasing and maintaining construction plant and machinery (CPM)to support contractors engaged in road, dam, and general civil works projectsacross Kenya. The company operates a diverse fleet that includes articulateddump trucks, excavators, graders, rollers, and other heavy -duty equipment thatfacilitate a range of construction activities such as excavation, earthworks,material haulage, soil stabilization, and asphalt paving. ROLE PURPOSE           The Senior Heavy Plant Mechanic will lead andexecute the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy construction machineryacross multiple project sites. The role is critical in maintaining fleetreliability, optimizing equipment uptime, and mentoring junior mechanics. Theideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise in diagnosingmechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, a disciplined approach topreventive maintenance, and the ability to provide technical leadership in bothworkshop and field settings. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES   · Plan, coordinate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance onheavy construction equipment including ADTs, excavators, graders, rollers,bulldozers, and related machinery.· Conduct advanced diagnostics and fault -finding on mechanical, electrical,and hydraulic systems using appropriate tools and software.· Oversee workshop operations, assign tasks, and guide junior mechanics andtechnicians in carrying out maintenance and repair work.· Review and maintain accurate service logs, parts usage records, andmaintenance reports for fleet monitoring.· Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies andstatutory regulations.· Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to plan equipment serviceschedules, prioritize repairs, and manage spare parts inventory.· Provide on -site technical support during active construction operationsto minimize equipment downtime.· Train, coach, and mentor junior mechanics, promoting skill transfer andadherence to best maintenance practices. KEY COMPETENCIES· Advanced Technical and MechanicalExpertise· Proficiency in Diagnostic andRepair Tools· Leadership and Team Coordination· Attention to Detail and SafetyFocus· Planning and Organizational Skills· Problem -Solving andDecision -Making Ability· Strong Communication and ReportingSkills RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE· Must be an NYS -trained Plant Mechanic.· Diploma inMechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.· 4 to 7 yearsof hands -on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy constructionequipment.· Demonstrated proficiencyin diagnosing complex faults in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.· Experiencesupervising workshop teams and coordinating maintenance activities acrossmultiple sites.· Strongfamiliarity with maintenance management systems and preventive maintenanceprograms.· Experienceworking with an equipment leasing, mining, or large -scale construction companyis highly desirable.· Possession ofa valid driver's license.
