Role Summary

We're hiring a senior leader to build and lead Spiro's end-to-end warehousing and inventory backbone across East & West Africa. This is a greenfield, high-impact role, designing national warehouse networks, bonded facilities, systems, teams, and controls that safely and efficiently move EV bikes, spares, and lithium batteries at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead Spiro's
    regional warehousing & inventory operating model
    across East & West Africa, including hub-and-spoke structures, site tiering, governance, and performance standards.
  • Build warehouses
    from the ground up
    : requirements definition, site selection, landlord negotiation, CAPEX/OPEX business cases, fit-out, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Own
    bonded warehouse strategy and execution
    across multiple countries, including customs licensing, compliance, audits, duty-suspension controls, and regulator engagement.
  • Establish strong
    inventory management and financial controls
    , delivering ≥98% accuracy, clean month-end close, zero unexplained variances, and disciplined write-off governance.
  • Lead
    WMS selection, configuration, and ERP integration
    , enabling real-time visibility of inventory across core warehouses, satellites, and field depots.
  • Define and enforce
    lithium battery and HAZMAT storage & handling standards
    , including fire protection, segregation, emergency response, and staff training.
  • Build and develop
    high-performing country teams
    (Warehouse Managers, Inventory Controllers, HSE), while managing 3PLs, security providers, and key vendors through clear SLAs and scorecards.
  • Drive
    continuous improvement and scale-up
    , reducing cost-per-pick, improving service levels, and ensuring warehousing capability keeps pace with rapid market expansion.

Required experience and technical skills

  • 15–20+ years in warehousing & inventory, with senior regional leadership experience.
  • Proven track record setting up warehouses and managing bonded operations.
  • Strong WMS/ERP integration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with lithium batteries / hazardous goods.
  • Africa multi-country experience strongly preferred.
