Our client an esteemed company in the construction industry, seeks to hire a qualified EHS Officer to join their team in Nairobi.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate in establishing EHS requirements at workplace.
  • Ensure the implementation of the EHS management system and norms as per the Apex EHS respectively.
  • Ensure effective implementation of HQ/BU EHSMS
  • Preparing and updating project HSE/CESMP plan.
  • Preparing EHS risk assessment/EIA & safe work method.
  • Identify the training needs, designing and imparting training for staff, visitor, sub-contractor and workmen.
  • Identify and update legal requirements
  • Monitor the evaluation of compliance to legal requirements at the prescribed frequency.
  • Conducting periodical site EHS inspections & report the finding for corrective action.
  • Identify EHS resources and ensure sufficient stock of PPE's & other EHS Items.
  • Act as catalyst for the project EHS committee activities.
  • Review & appraise the site EHS performance and facilitate for improvement.
  • Ensure the proactive performance monitoring/analysis through systems such as key performance indicator on EHS.
  • Organize campaigns, competitions & other special emphasis programs to promote EHS at workplace.
  • Conducting incident investigation, analyze incident trends & initiate necessary corrective actions at sites.
  • Establishing, implementing & maintaining emergency preparedness and response procedure.
  • Conduct EHSMS Audits and drive for the compliance.
  • Addressing customer/consultant inquiries, ensure requirements compliance, resolving complaints, and ensuring positive customer experiences.
  • Proactive drive on EHS initiatives and digital implementation.
  • Reporting the site EHS performance to all concern and BU.
  • Appraise the project manager & EHS Head on matters of non- compliance and facilitate compliance for continual improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  2. Professional certifications: NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent.
  3. Minimum 7–10 years of experience in EHS management within construction or infrastructure projects.
  4. Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and local safety/environmental legislation.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
