ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation was established through a Legal Gazette Notice No. 265 of 1986 as a State Corporation with the aim of promoting forest conservation by providing buffer zones of tea and assorted tree species to check against human encroachment into the forestland.

The Corporation is mandated to protect the gazetted forests from human encroachment by establishing continuous belts of tea bushes and assorted tree species which acts as a buffer between forests and communities living adjacent to the forests. The tea zones not only help to protect the forests but also in the rehabilitation of ecologically fragile areas.

The Corporation was established by the Government of Kenya to enhance the conservation of forests and protection of the environment, to produce the internationally renowned Kenyan quality tea, to produce fuel-wood that is essential in tea processing, to create jobs as well as earn revenue for the Kenyan government. Specifically, the Corporation is mandated to establish, manage and develop tea and fuel wood plantations and indigenous trees; establish and manage nurseries for propagation of tea and tree seedlings; establish, manage and maintain tea processing factories and process tea. The Corporation is also mandated to construct and maintain rural access roads, offices and green leaf collection centres and transport, lease, sell or market in Kenya or outside Kenya any tea, wood or other products produced or processed by the Corporation or its agents.

The Corporation operates in seventeen zones across the country.

JOB SUMMARY

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -At least fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a management levelBachelor's degree in any of the following fields: Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science/Government, Anthropology or any other Social Science from a recognized Institution;Master's degree in any of the Human Resources, Management/Development/Planning, Industrial Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration/Management/Development or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; institution;Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM);Valid annual Practicing Certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM);Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)Proficiency in computer application skills;Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, managerial and administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, implement and review Employee Resourcing procedures and guidelines;Undertake human resource planning;update and maintain a database on recruitment and selection process including staff appointed and staff on contract;Ensure implementation of the human resource management information system for monitoring, tracking, and evaluating employee activities;Preparation, implementation and monitoring of the approved budget on corporation's training and development;Measurement of the effectiveness of training and development interventions to ensure return on investment;Provision of career growth opportunities for employees;Develop and review job descriptions and specification for cadres in the Organization;Coordination of staff performance appraisal system in the corporation,Establish and maintain a staff skills inventory;Undertake background checks and verification of human resource documents;Manage employee confirmation, promotion and redesignation;Develop and implement succession management framework; and Build capacity through training and mentorship in employee resourcin
