Project Manager role focuses on providing technical expertise to implement a project in North-Eastern Kenya, promoting food security and energy sector development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with the proposed plan, budget, and schedule.
  • Ensure the achievement of project targets and key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, training, and capacity development of project staff.
  • Coordinate staff, strengthen their capacity, and promote autonomy and responsibility.
  • Implement registration and monitoring activities according to international standards and project requirements.
  • Apply AVSI's logistical and administrative procedures for project portfolios, in collaboration with Operations Manager, Country Representative, and donors.
  • Ensure the quality and sustainability of project results through strategic and operational planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • Promote synergies with national and international projects, programs, and interventions.
  • Prepare narrative and financial reports, collect, and verify project documentation.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with partners, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Interact with HQs focal points for strategy coordination, innovation sharing, and lessons learned.
  • Represent AVSI in sectorial coordination structures and meetings at provincial and national levels.
  • Identify new funding proposals with donors and programs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Rural Development, Environment/Energy studies, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, or relevant fields from a recognized university.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in development/humanitarian contexts.
  • Proficient knowledge of Italian and English (written and oral), C1 level.
  • Swahili and/or Somali knowledge is an added advantage.

Desirable Skills and Experiences:

  • Proficient knowledge of standard IT software.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to coordinate and manage diverse activities and stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills, ability to work independently.
  • Report writing and computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentation, and Internet.
  • Experience in working in rural economic development or business development is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel and work in rural areas for most of the time.
