Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Systems Specialist to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our field teams on food systems strengthening, climate adaptation, and resilience-building initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, rural development, or a related field, with at least three years of professional experience in project implementation and coordination. Proven expertise in building relationships with stakeholders, including communities, NGOs, and government institutions, is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team, are also required.

The Food Systems Specialist will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and tracking of projects, conducting field visits, and providing technical input to field teams. They will also be involved in liaisoning with KOICA representatives, coordinating donor visibility efforts, and serving as a liaison with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other regional donors and partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A university degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Environment and Climate Change, Rural Development, or other field relevant to international development assistance.
  • At least three years of professional experience in project implementation within agriculture, rural livelihoods/development, or food systems development.
  • Strong knowledge of rural livelihoods, agricultural value chains, and smallholder support strategies.
  • Familiarity with Somalia's socio-economic and Agro-ecological context, particularly the challenges facing food systems.
