About the Role

We recently launched Western Rice, a locally-grown rice brand. We seek
energetic, persuasive, and field-smart Sales Agents
to promote and sell the product to volume buyers across
Nairobi, Kisumu and Eldoret
. The role suits dynamic individuals passionate about
FMCG sales
, with extensive local market knowledge, and skilled at building customer relationships.

2. Scope of Work

§ Promote and sell our Western Rice products to distributors, wholesalers, large retail shops, and institutions.

§ Generate and convert leads into loyal customers, while managing existing relationships.

§ Conduct promotions, product tastings, and distribute marketing materials.

§ Monitor customer feedback, restocking needs, and competitor activities.

§ Submit weekly sales and field activity reports.

3. Key Responsibilities

§ 
Sales & Promotion:
Achieve monthly sales targets through direct visits, cold calls, and product sampling; distribute promotional materials; organize in-store promotions and tastings; ensure visible point-of-sale displays.

§ 
Customer Engagement:
Highlight Western Rice's value proposition, address buyer concerns, and build lasting client relationships.

§ 
Sales Execution & Order Support:
Close medium to large sales; escalate largest orders to Commercial Manager; submit order forms for delivery; and track stock levels.

§ 
Market Intelligence & Feedback:
Provide insights on competitors, customer preferences, and market trends; recommend improvements; submit daily updates and weekly reports via approved platforms.

  • Digital Engagement:
    Use platforms like WhatsApp Business and social media to generate leads and share IGPL's marketing content.

4. Qualifications & Experience

§ Minimum KCSE Certificate. Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field is a plus.

§ 2-4 years' experience in
FMCG
, agro-product distribution, or retail merchandising.

§ Familiarity with Nairobi, Kisumu or Eldoret market and ability to work independently in the field.

§ Experience launching new products to market is a plus.

§ Owning a smartphone and comfortable using it for communication, reporting, and digital marketing.

5. Key Competencies

§ Proactive, results driven and strong sales skills

§ Excellent communication, persuasion and negotiation abilities

§ Confident, presentable, and engaging with customers

§ Basic reporting skills (Excel sales forms, WhatsApp updates, etc.)

§ Fluent in Kiswahili and English

6. Remuneration & Terms

§ Commission: 2% based on sales volume

§ Performance bonus: for surpassing monthly sales target (25MT)

§ Airtime and transport allowance for active performers

§ Contract terms: 3 months, renewable with negotiable terms based on performance.
