About the role:
The role holder will be in charge of steering and supporting field installation and service teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and timely solar system deployments. The role will focus on driving operational excellence through effective team management, project coordination, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction. It will also involve performance monitoring, process optimization, and continuous technical training to build capable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused installation teams.
What you would be expected to do: Team Stewardship & Field Staff Management:
- Steer, manage, coach, and assist a network of zonal and regional installation and service teams across the territory.
- Drive professional growth within the teams, mentoring technicians and team stewards to develop best-in-class technical and customer service skill sets.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the end-to-end installation process for solar inverter systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Allocate resources efficiently and manage the scheduling of installation teams to maximise productivity and meet installation targets.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for complex installation setbacks, providing hands-on technical guidance and problem-solving assistance to field teams.
- Implement and enforce strict quality control checks for all installations, ensuring they meet Sun King's technical standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Guarantee 100% adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, inspections, and compliance certifications.
- Uphold the highest standards of customer service, ensuring a seamless installation experience and proactive post-installation assistance.
- Address customer escalations related to installation quality or timelines promptly and effectively.
- Monitor customer feedback and Net Promoter Score (NPS) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs), including installation turnaround time (TAT), first-time fix rate, technician productivity, and cost per installation.
- Evaluate performance data to identify bottlenecks, implement process optimizations, and drive operational excellence.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
- Develop and conduct ongoing technical training programs on new inverter technologies, installation methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ensure all team members are certified and up-to-date with the latest product knowledge and safety procedures.
You might be a strong candidate if you:
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university; an advanced degree is an added advantage.
- Have a minimum 7 years of experience managing field installation teams in the solar energy, inverter/UPS, or telecommunications industry.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of solar inverter and PV systems, electrical wiring standards, and power electronics.
- Are proficient in diagnostic tools, software, and remote monitoring platforms.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Have good organizational efficiency, customer service orientation, and entrepreneurial mindset.
