Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Solar PV Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will work directly with clients, internal teams, and on-site locations to ensure optimal system performance and long-term reliability. This role involves hands-on technical work, professional client interaction, and contribution to the continuous improvement of solar technologies.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Installation and Troubleshooting
- Conduct on-site installations and repairs, including DC/AC wiring, inverter setup, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with solar PV components such as panels, inverters, batteries, and mounting systems.
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs) and schematics for efficient troubleshooting.

Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar PV systems, including inverters, panels, and electrical connections.
- Conduct site inspections and system diagnostics to identify performance issues.
- Apply root cause analysis techniques to recurring or critical faults, ensuring long-term resolution.

Client Interaction and Reporting
- Interact professionally with customers to provide clear explanations of technical issues and solutions.
- Provide detailed documentation and reports to clients after maintenance or repairs, including system status and recommendations.
- Deliver formal technical reports investigating technical failures.
4.
Spare Parts and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of spare part movements, ensuring sufficient inventory levels for maintenance activities.
- Assist in the procurement and management of tools and components necessary for system maintenance and repair.
5.
Technology Assessment and Development
- Attend industry conferences and B2B meetings to evaluate new solar technologies and share insights with internal teams.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or a related engineering field.
- 1+ years of technical experience in the solar energy industry.
- Experience in the maintenance of LV and 22kV cable systems, including fault location and diagnostics (preferred).
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of power system protection and PV system design.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret SLDs and technical schematics.
- Experience with DC/AC cable installations and troubleshooting.
- Cable jointing qualifications and experience (preferred).
Certifications
- NABCEP certification (preferred).
- Additional certifications in solar PV systems or electrical safety are advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working on rooftops and at heights.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 kg.
- Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight trips, as required by project needs

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork.
- Detail-orientated with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
