Job Summary:
We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hotel Accountant to join our team in Migori. As a Hotel Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies, and overseeing stock management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Accounts Management:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insights for corrective actions.
- Stock Management:
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking of goods and materials.
- Conduct regular stock audits and implement inventory control measures to minimize losses.
- Analyze stock levels and recommend optimal stock levels to ensure efficient operations.
- Compliance and Controls:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, hotel policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to prevent errors and misstatements.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with hotel management to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Liaise with external auditors during financial audits.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in hotel accounting or a similar role
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage
Strong knowledge of hotel accounting procedures, hospitality industry regulations, and inventory management principles
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SunSystems) and MS Office
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
