Moto taxis are a primary means of public transport in African cities, and it is estimated that these drivers spend >$6Bn p.a. on gasoline in East Africa alone. Ampersand has developed an electric solution that is more powerful, fun to drive, and cost-effective than the incumbent. Ampersand drivers routinely earn over 30% more income by going electric.The company started in Kigali, Rwanda, and expanded into Nairobi, Kenya in 2022. Today it has around 6,000 e-motorcycles on the road and 60 battery swap stations across the two countries. Ampersand is leading the market in quality, affordable tech, customer traction, and operational systems. The Ampersand team consists of 400+ staff drawn from diverse backgrounds and is working hard to see all 5 million taxi motorbikes in East Africa become electric by 2030. About the roleThe Charging Station Network Team Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and customer-focused operations across the company's network of Charging Stations. This position focuses on coordinating Charging Station Attendants (CSAs), driving performance, maintaining operational standards, and implementing process improvements.Key responsibilitiesFleet CoordinationEnsure customer traffic and rescue requests are handled efficiently and on time.Coordinate daily fleet activities across departments, including battery pooling, swap stations, and commercial support.Support the loading, unloading, and movement of equipment and materials between locations.Assist in vehicle and battery rescue operations by dispatching drivers and following up until resolution.Work with procurement and logistics teams on routine fleet needs and resource movements.Ensure all fleet vehicles are ready for operations; fueled/charged, equipped, clean, and properly positioned.Monitor rescue response times and flag delays or issues for follow-up and improvement.Ensure every rescue case is documented correctly and closed in the system.Operational CoordinationMaintain regular communication with fleet drivers to support smooth daily operations, adjust shift plans for fleet drivers to ensure continuous coverage.Conduct basic training or refresher updates for fleet drivers on new procedures.Identify simple routing or driver allocation issues and raise recommendations for improvement.Track key vehicle compliance items (insurance, inspections, licenses) and ensure timely follow-up.Conduct basic spot checks on vehicles for cleanliness, safety, and general standards.Ensure all fleet assets are accounted for and used in line with company procedures.Keep accurate records and reports of vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, and general fleet performance.Minimum requirements:Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.Minimum 3 years' experience in fleet coordination, logistics support, operations, or customer service.Experience working in fast-paced operational environments with real-time response requirements supervising or coordinating small teamsGood understanding of fleet scheduling, dispatching, route planning, and basic vehicle/motorcycle operations.Experience resolving escalated customer or technical issues with professionalism and empathy.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal to engage effectively with customers and technical teams.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Self-driven and proactive, with a positive attitude and commitment to customer satisfaction.Job locationThis role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya Reporting to the Operations and Logistics Supervisor
