ABOUT THE ROLE

The BD Manager will be responsible for driving sales performance, growth, and productivity of a team of Financial Advisors (FAs) across investments, pensions, and insurance solutions. The role ensures advisors perform to the highest standards of professionalism, compliance, and client-centricity, while achieving revenue and business targets.

In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

Sales Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of Financial Advisors to achieve individual and team sales targets.
  • Develop performance plans and KPIs aligned to business goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, field coaching sessions, and sales strategy meetings.
  • Monitor pipeline, conversion ratios, and activity levels to ensure consistent growth.

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Drive acquisition of new clients across investments, pensions, and insurance.
  • Identify and pursue new market segments, distribution channels, and partnerships.
  • Support advisors in structuring client solutions that meet financial needs.
  • Lead sales activations, marketing initiatives, and relationship-building activities.

Advisor Recruitment, Training & Development

  • Recruit high-quality Financial Advisors, ensuring cultural and performance fit.
  • Facilitate onboarding, product training, and continuous development of the team.
  • Build advisor capability in prospecting, sales presentations, client engagement, and closing techniques.

Compliance & Front Office Operational Excellence

  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements (IRA, RBA, CMA) and internal policies.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical selling and documentation quality.
  • Ensure timely submission of applications, reports, and client follow-ups.
  • Implement controls to minimize lapses, claw backs, and compliance breaches.

Client Relationship & Service Oversight

  • Guide advisors in building long-term client relationships.
  • Resolve escalated client issues and support retention efforts.
  • Promote cross-selling and portfolio diversification across financial products.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Provide management with accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Track sales metrics, advisor productivity, and market intelligence.
  • Recommend strategic adjustments based on data and trends.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

The following experience is preferred: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Certifications in insurance, pensions, or investment advisory (COP, AIIK, CISI, CWM, CFP, CFA etc.) are an added advantage.
  • 10+ years' applicable experience within investments, pensions, insurance, or financial services.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Strong understanding of investment, pension, and insurance products in the Kenyan market.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (IRA/RBA/CMA).
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, reporting, and sales analytics.
  • Good knowledge of Zamara retail solutions and products.
