Nairobi, Nairobi Area, Kenya African Management Institute Full time
We are seeking a dynamic Community & Marketing specialist with strong experience driving engagement within South Africa's entrepreneurial ecosystem—particularly township-based (Kasipreneur) communities. Skilled in building vibrant, high-impact communities, managing multi-channel communication, and developing culturally relevant social media content tailored to local audiences. Adept at strengthening partner relationships, amplifying programme visibility, and showcasing impact through stories and media engagement. Brings strong cross-functional collaboration, event coordination, and brand stewardship to support programme delivery, recruitment, and strategic marketing initiatives across AMI South Africa.

Community Management (South Africa Ecosystem & Kasipreneur Communities):
  • Build, grow, and manage engaged communities around AMI's programmes, especially within the township entrepreneur (Kasipreneur) ecosystem.

  • Coordinate community events, meetups, and activation days in partnership with ecosystem stakeholders.

  • Maintain strong relationships with programme alumni, local partners, community leaders, and influencers.

  • Manage WhatsApp groups, community platforms, and local communication channels, ensuring timely, supportive, and helpful engagement.

  • Collect stories, testimonials, and case studies from participants to showcase programme impact.

Social Media Management:

  • Create and publish content across KIP's social media channels, ensuring alignment with AMI brand guidelines.

  • Tailor content for South African audiences, including reels, short-form videos, community spotlights, and campaign assets.

  • Manage the content calendar for AMI SA and KIP and coordinate with the Central Marketing Team for approvals and campaigns.

  • Monitor performance analytics, track engagement, and optimise content for reach and audience relevance.

  • Support paid social campaigns in partnership with the Central Marketing Team.

Communications and PR:

  • Draft country-specific and programme-related communication materials, including press releases, blog articles, newsletters, and event summaries.

  • Support media outreach and maintain relationships with key South African press and ecosystem publications.

  • Collaborate with programme teams to highlight impact stories and thought leadership from AMI South Africa.

  • Ensure AMI's brand voice and messaging remain consistent across all public-facing channels.

  • Draft talking points, quotes, and communication packs for stakeholder events.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with implementation teams to align marketing support with recruitment, event delivery, and partner visibility.

  • Collaborate with Central Marketing to execute country campaigns, share insights, and contribute content to global channels.

  • Maintain shared planning tools (content calendars, event trackers, assets folders), ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.

  • Participate actively in weekly and monthly marketing syncs, sharing updates, wins, insights, and support needs.

Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or community management, preferably in South Africa's entrepreneurial or development ecosystem.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to adapt tone to diverse audiences.

  • Experience managing social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok), including content creation and analytics.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic design ability (Canva or similar).

  • Experience with events, partnerships, or grassroots community engagement is a plus.

  • High levels of ownership, creativity, attention to detail, and follow-through.

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional, multicultural teams.
